The cordless jump rope is one of my favorite training devices. It also is a ridiculous concept. I would have loved to be in the room the first time the idea was pitched to a sporting goods manufacturer. A cordless jump rope basically consists of two jump rope handles each with a weighted foam ball attached to a short rope. It is a jump rope… minus the rope.

My home gym has a fairly low ceiling that is way too low to accommodate a jump rope. Before I stumbled across the cordless jump rope, it was all too easy to skip my intended rope work. When I have to go outside, weather, darkness, and mosquitoes are all convenient excuses. Additionally, there is benefit of jumping rope in my designated workout space. Proximity to weights, medicine balls, and resistance tubing is convenient for cardio/resistance training intervals.

It is not an exaggeration that the cordless jump rope transformed my jump rope training frequency. If you believe in the effectiveness of jumping rope, but never seem to find a place and time for it, a cordless jump rope could just the thing to spark your agility training as well. It’s a low cost investment with a lot of upside.
