My tennis racquet bag tends to run on the heavy side because I carry a lot of gear onto the court that might be needed during a match. I also keep a lot of things in the back of my car that could be essential situationally or in between matches. Today I am providing a glimpse into the items I have at the ready as well as my system for organization.

It is one thing to have the gear you need and something else entirely to find it under duress. For the gear kept in my car, I start with a large plastic utility box to keep everything together. Smaller conspicuously labeled pencil boxes are used to locate specific items quickly.

Some of the gear I keep in my car is weather specific. A windbreaker, knit hat, gloves, a neck gaiter, and ear warmers fall into that category. In the medical department, there is a general first aid kit, an athletic tape kit, and an assortment of braces. I also keep some personal hygiene items for those times when I am facing a long drive home from a site with no shower. My luxury item is a bin of brand new socks.

You may not have the same level of tennis obsession, but if you are reading this post… then there is a chance that you do. This system a great way to organize the gear that you don’t carry onto the court but still want to have close at hand. It could be the difference between winning and losing a match.

I too have a ton of ‘just in case’ items in my big and heavy tennis bag that I keep in my trunk. I also put in extra over grips, Kleenex, a reel of string, a roll of toilet paper, one of those ‘mitts’ that go over both my hand and the racquet handle, a bag of snack choices, an extra small towel for me and three large old towels to dry the court puddles. 😂
