Barbarians at the Gate: Tennis Channel Welcomes Pro Pickleball to its Airwaves

Shawnee County Commission votes to resurface tennis courts after hearing it’s still a viable sport

Viable. This is what tennis is coming to. The Shawnee County (Kansas) commissioners voted to resurface 12 tennis courts only after being assured that the courts will receive a reasonable amount of use. Though the similar sport of pickleball has grown considerably in popularity, the sport of tennis “very much” remains viable, said Tim Laurent, Shawnee County’s parks and recreation director.
