Netflix Releases Break Point Teaser, Announces Premiere Date

Netflix on Wednesday released a teaser for Break Point, the upcoming tennis series created by the team behind F1: Drive To Survive. The series will premiere on 13 January. “I think it’s going to make a great show, and I think we gave them some good content,” Felix Auger-Aliassime said. “For me the main goal is that it can help tennis. Murray Wins Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award

Andy Murray has been named the 2022 Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award recipient in recognition of his support for the humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. Boris Becker returns to Germany after being freed from prison

Boris Becker has returned to Germany after serving eight months in prison in Britain. The three-time Wimbledon champion had been sentenced to 30 months in prison in April for illicitly transferring large amounts of money and hiding assets after he was declared bankrupt.  Full Story: PBS

Chilean tennis player gets 3-year ban for match-fixing

Bárbara Gatica Avilés has been banned from the sport for three years after admitting she was paid to deliberately lose a match in 2016, the International Tennis Integrity Agency said Thursday. The 26-year-old Gatica Avilés, whose career-best WTA ranking is No. 158, was also fined $5,000. Full Story: The Washington Post

Summer school: USTA Player and Coach Development Fellows

For 12 weeks this summer at the USTA National Campus, future tennis coaches were fully immersed in what it’d be like to live their dreams thanks to USTA Player and Coach Development’s inaugural Fellowship in Tennis Coaching & Leadership. Carla Suarez Navarro has announced she is pregnant, with the Spanish former tennisstar who overcame cancer expressing her “tremendous joy” and “great pride.” Suarez Navarro was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in September 2020, just months after announcing her intention to retire. Tennis Channel to air first 2023 Major League Pickleball Draft

The Tennis Channel televised the draft for Major League Pickleball by Margaritaville from the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas last Thursday. The first season will take place across three events in Mesa, Ariz. (Jan. 26-29), Daytona Beach, Fla. (Mar. 23-26), and San Clemente, Calif.
