Easter falls on April 20 this year. That means there are three shopping weeks left if this is a gifting holiday for you. Easter is the perfect time to think outside the basket to include the gift of tennis. A strung tennis racquet can stand in for the traditional Easter basket. All you have to do is fill the racquet head with a little artificial grass and the traditional goodies, in addition to tennis accessories. It is a creative Easter surprise that’s sure to serve up some smiles.

When creating a tennis Easter basket for a small child, I start with an age-appropriate Quickstart racquet and starter foam tennis balls. The traditional plastic eggs can be filled with Easter Bunny racquet dampeners (which are a thing!) and some pastel overgrips. Of course, no bag would be complete without an assortment of the usual Easter chocolates and candy. A cellophane gift bag wrapped tightly around the whole ensemble holds everything in place.

Tennis Easter Basket

The glorious thing about giving a tennis Easter basket is that it scales with age. For younger players, growing kids progress pretty quickly through the Quickstart racquet sizes. When that happens, the theme is the same, but the gift feels new. Older, more serious players might appreciate sets of strings, clothing items, and gift cards to their local pro shop. As a bonus, spring is the perfect season for giving tennis gifts. Since the weather is warming up, the equipment is likely to be put to good use right away. It’s a timely nudge to hit the courts.

Anyone can give a boring traditional Easter basket. This year, maybe you should consider a tennis-themed Easter basket to round out your gifting arsenal. I can think of no better way to give the gift of our great sport to those special people in your life.

This is a great one, I never thought about a tennis easter basket, it would have been something my dad would have done for me when I was young if he was around to read your articles. I actually just launched a tennis related gift giving item, and was hoping to try to reach you but can’t find an email address. Can you please get in touch with me?
