I am rounding out my weekend of great tennis-related gift suggestions by sharing something I bought for myself last year that would make an excellent gift for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day. It is an electronic product that solves a televised tennis viewing problem that I have suffered from for a very long time.
In case it isn’t obvious, I watch the Tennis Channel a lot. In the early rounds of tournaments, I typically prefer streamed outer-court matches, which I frequently timeshift using on-demand replays. While I love the ability to watch the precise match I want on my personal schedule, the Tennis Channel Plus service has yet to master the art of resuming a paused stream on a different device. Unfortunately, tennis matches can last a long time, and sitting in one place for three hours doesn’t fit my lifestyle.
Manually fast-forwarding is a terrible option for resuming on-demand tennis matches. Seeing the total length or even the proportional viewing time can spoil the result. Additionally, it is difficult to advance the match to the precise place where I left off. I frequently wind up either missing or re-watching some of the action. Every once in a while, I inadvertently fast-forward to the end and accidentally see the final result. It is very dissatisfying.
Last fall, I purchased a Wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver. I was initially worried about the video quality, but have been very satisfied with the resolution. In fact, I subsequently purchased additional receivers to cover all the primary places in my house where I typically watch tennis. I use this system with an Amazon Fire TV stick as the HDMI feed into the transmitter unit. I also use the FireTV app to control that device from whatever room I happen to be in. It effectively creates a multi-cast solution that covers my entire house.
This setup has completely transformed my tennis viewing experience. I no longer feel chained to one spot for fear of losing my place in a match. Now, whether working out in my home gym, cooking dinner, or packing to go on a trip, I can watch the matches I want seamlessly without interruption or spoilers.
As a result, I now watch and enjoy more tennis than ever. Removing the friction of restarting matches, worrying about spoilers, or being tethered to a single screen has been a game-changer. It’s amazing how this one small tech upgrade solved my long-standing problem and unlocked a whole new level of viewing freedom.

Compared to the usual standby gifts for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, the Wireless HDMI Transmitter and Receiver is a knock-it-out-of-the-park better option. Flowers wilt, mugs collect dust, and no one wears ties anymore. Instead, you can give a gift that improves the watching experience for your tennis-loving mom or dad. There is no better gift than total tennis viewing freedom.
