Fiend at Court Unplugged

Yesterday I shared a photo that illustrated that some players in the DFW area chipped ice off a court at Hurst Tennis Center in order to get some USTA League matches played as scheduled. Today I am sharing another photo from earlier in the week that shows that the courts a couple of miles away at Richland Tennis Center were fully playable. This photo was provided courtesy of Bobby Reeves who is the Head Tennis Pro at that facility.

I wanted to inquire if the facility received any calls from players asking about the status of the courts and whether drop in drills would be conducted as regularly scheduled. The only reason I didn’t was because I was worried that the answer would have run along the lines of “Besides your husband?” It would not surprise me to learn that there were players in this area grousing at the facilities for not doing enough to clear the courts earlier in the week.

I feel like there was a lost opportunity to experience some rare winter tennis on center court at Richland Tennis Center. In fact, I am suddenly enchanted with the idea of playing tennis on a snow covered court. A quick perusal of YouTube revealed that this isn’t exactly a novel idea.

I played tennis every day last week. Indoors. It is probably best that I didn’t have my ski gear and boots handy last week. I would have been really tempted to give snow tennis a try.
