I am not sure what this says about the way my life is going in general, but last week one of my co-workers gave me a dammit doll. For anyone who is unfamiliar with this product, a dammit doll is essentially a stress relief device. It is a stuffed voodoo looking human figure that provides a relatively safe outlet to physically act out anger. You can throw, slam, and whack it around without posing any danger to people or surroundings.

In case the tennis relevance is not immediately obvious, Bethanie Mattek-Sands pulled out a dammit doll during her second Tennis Channel “Bag Check” featurette. I have included a link to that video below. However, I don’t consider this to be an official “Best of Bag Check” post since it is out of chronological order and my dammit doll came to me independently last week.

The dammit doll that I was gifted is a lovely light blue and white. While drafting this post, I was delighted to learn that there is also a tennis themed dammit doll available for purchase. This product comes in a wade variety of colors and patterns. Every player should be able to find one that matches their aesthetic sensibilities.

Life can throw a lot at you both on and off a tennis court. Tucking a dammit doll in your bag may provide a cathartic outlet that saves your racquet frames or otherwise keeps you from looking like an idiot. It is a good thing to have around.
