Fiend at Court Unplugged

This weekend I have been pitching ideas for tennis themed reality shows into the ether. To round out weekend, I have one more proposal. The idea is pretty simple. Bring back the Reality TV quiz show “Cash Cab” picking up passengers from tennis tournaments and asking questions relating exclusively about tennis. It might not inspire anyone to pick up a racquet, but it would certainly be entertaining.

Of the reality TV ideas pitched this weekend, Tennis Cash Cab would by far be the easiest to produce as it doesn’t require signing a tennis professional to a contract. On the other hand, the only viable network would be the tennis channel. It is hard to make a case that it would promote tennis beyond the current viewing audience.

On the plus side, Cash Cab rides would produce variable length segments appropriate for rain delays and filling in gaps between matches during off hours. It’s an idea that could legitimately work.

To close out the reality TV pitches for the weekend I have two more YouTube clips of tennis players participating in Reality TV. The first is Monica Seles competing on Dancing with the Stars. The second is Martina Navratilova appearing on the British reality show “I’m a Celebrity – Get me Out of Here.” That second clip… is definitely not for the squeamish. Martina is a certifiable bad ass.
