Sarah Flood is currently a teaching tennis professional at the Houston Racquet Club. That bland statement obscures the triumph over adversity that makes that bland statement even possible. Love All is Flood’s compelling and inspiring memoir that is a testament to the power of perseverance, self-belief, and the resilience of the human spirit.
The first part of Love All chronicles the story of Sarah’s life that brought her to tennis. It traces her introduction to the sport and subsequent rise through the UK’s LTA junior rankings. This part of the story culminates with Sarah joining the tennis team at the University of Houston.
Unfortunately, a series of family and personal tragedies put her life on a different course. The second part of Love All is a story of hope emerging from tragedy and what could have been insurmountable obstacles. Sarah’s story of perseverance is an inspirational reminder to find joy and love during the limited time we have on this planet.
The game of tennis was one mechanism through which Sarah consistently experienced happiness and joy throughout her life. Consequently, it should come as no surprise that tennis was ultimately the purpose that brought her through the darkest moments.
Several passages of this book brought me to tears. I was simultaneously humbled and inspired by all Sarah had experienced and overcome. I am so grateful that she shared her story to remind us all that life is short. Nothing should ever be taken for granted.
Love All is extremely well-written and uplifting. Additionally, Sara has pledged the proceeds from this book toward research into melanoma screenings. The simple act of purchasing this book honors her life and legacy.
