Fiend at Court Unplugged

Today I am sharing four more tennis life hacks that were shamelessly lifted and adapted from a cybersecurity talk I gave in 2020. These are things that can significantly improve your tennis life.

Here are items 5-8 on the list.

5. Read a Tennis Book

You had to know that the site that reviews a tennis book on an (almost) weekly basis is going to recommend that people read books. No matter what your interest is in tennis, there is a book out there with valuable information and insight in how to improve your tennis life. Obvious candidate subjects are tennis tactics, stroke development, and tennis psychology. However there are also great leadership books and history that contains important tennis life lessons.

For extra credit, form a tennis book club. Share the joy with your friends.

6. Join a Tennis Affinity Group or Industry Association

If you are not already a member of the USTA, you probably should be. Full stop. There is no other organization that has done more to build and promote tennis in the United States.

If you are already a member of the USTA, you should actively look for other other groups that are promoting tennis in a way that aligns with your values. USTA Community Tennis Associations are a great resource for this type of engagement. The Tennis Industry Association and USPTA might also be an appropriate option for you. Additionally you can’t ignore Universal Tennis and should have some degree of engagement with that organization.

7. Subscribe to Some Form of Tennis Content

Most tennis players understand the basics of nutrition and how physical performance can be impacted by what is consumed. The brain works in exactly the same way. If you feed your brain with high quality tennis content, then those synapses will be primed for tennis. An easy way to do that is to subscribe to high quality tennis content that is automatically delivered to you on a recurring basis.

There is a lot of free and low-cost tennis content out there. Tennis magazines are a decent option. I am a big fan of podcasts.

It is largely self-serving, but you might consider becoming an email subscriber to this blog. That way you will receive a daily email direct to your inbox every morning with quality tennis content. It’s totally free.

8. Create Tennis Content

Regular readers of the Fiend At Court blog have a high degree of engagement in tennis. You probably have knowledge and experience that other people would be interested in. Find a medium and tell your story. You don’t have to launch a tennis blog with daily content, though that is a fine idea.

Think about what you might have to share… and make it happen. Your story could transform another life via tennis.

Finishing Shots

We will cover the last four “Gifts” tomorrow. Additionally, just as there are 12 days of Christmas, there happen to be 12 months in a year. I plan to revisit each of these items by doing a deep dive of each one on the first Friday of each month in 2022.
